LineMarshal for Universities
During add/drop week the advising line runs down the corridor and students skip class to hold a place. LineMarshal lets them scan a QR code, join the queue from a phone browser, wait in the library or a cafe, and get a text when a window or an advisor comes free.
Orientation, registration deadlines, and add/drop all land in the same two weeks, and advising, the registrar, and financial aid jam at once. The hallway line is the first impression many first-years get of student services. A virtual queue moves that line onto their phones and clears the corridor.
When leaving the line means starting over tomorrow, students pick the line over the lecture, and everyone knows it. With a live position on their phone and a text as their turn approaches, they can hold their place from the library, a cafe, or a lecture hall.
Your front desk can see a full hallway but not the actual count or how fast it is moving. LineMarshal puts the whole board in any browser, so advisors between sessions and supervisors down the hall see the same live queue without leaving their desks.
Advising, the bursar, IT, and the career centre each keep a clipboard or a take-a-number stub, and a student learns a different system at every door. Each office can run its own LineMarshal queue with its own QR code, so the join flow is the same everywhere and each office finally gets numbers on its own traffic.
Print the LineMarshal QR poster for advising, the registrar window, financial aid, or the IT desk. Students scan it with their phone camera and join from the browser. No app to download, no account to create, no kiosk to buy.
They enter their name, and on offices with multiple advisors or windows they can pick a specific person or take the next available. Their live position and estimated wait show on their phone.
Students head to the library or a cafe and keep their spot. A text goes out as their turn approaches, so they walk back right on time instead of camping in the corridor.
Advisors and window staff run the board from any browser at the desk they already sit at. One tap calls the next student, and the optional lobby TV shows the running order for anyone waiting in the room.
“During add/drop we had students lining up before we unlocked the doors, and my advisors had no idea how deep the line was. Now students scan the code, wait in the library, and walk in when the text goes out. The corridor is clear and I can see the whole day's traffic on one screen.”

Specific questions from universities operators.
Both, on the Max plan with Dynamic Scheduling turned on for a lane. From the same QR scan a student can pick a named advisor and a time slot, or join the walk-in line, and walk-ins auto-fill the gaps around the booked slots. The honest limit: the bookable window runs from right now to the end of that advisor's shift today, so it is same-day booking only. If your office books advising weeks ahead, keep your current tool for that and use LineMarshal for the day-of mix of appointments and drop-ins. There is no integration between the two; staff see the LineMarshal board and the other calendar side by side.
Analytics come with every plan: customers served, total people through the queue, busiest hour, average wait time, average service time, show rate, and no-shows, over a 7, 14, or 30 day window. That is enough to justify opening a second window at your busiest hour and to see whether waits actually fell after you did. Per-advisor breakdowns are on the Max plan.
No. There is no SIS integration, no SSO, and no data sync of any kind. Students join with a name and an optional phone number, straight from the browser, and nothing touches your records system. The upside is deployment: there is no IT project and no waiting on integrations, so a department can print a QR code and be live the same morning.
Yes. Advising, the registrar, financial aid, the bursar, IT, and the career centre can each run their own queue with their own QR code. Inside an office, the Max plan adds separate lanes per advisor or per service window, with Any Available routing sending undecided students to whoever frees up first. Each office runs its own board from any browser.
Anywhere on campus. Their phone shows a live position and estimated wait, and a text goes out as their turn approaches, so the library or a cafe works as well as a hallway chair. The optional lobby TV shows the running order for students who prefer to stay close, and it is included on every plan.
The Free plan covers 50 customers a month, which lets a smaller office run a genuine pilot at no cost. Pro is $49 a month. Max is $69 a month and carries the features busy service desks usually need: per-advisor lanes, SMS texts, Any Available routing, and same-day slots through Dynamic Scheduling. The only hardware is a printed QR code, plus any screen with a browser if you want the TV display.
Add/drop week does not have to mean a corridor full of students who should be in class. LineMarshal gives advising, the registrar, and every service window a virtual queue that students join from a phone and staff run from a browser, with no hardware beyond a printed QR code. Start free today.
